What is an Online Fitness Coach?

Could an Online Fitness Coach help you to hit your fitness goals?

I love to help cabin and flight crew improve their health and fitness with my ‘FLYING FIT AND STRONG’ online coaching programme.

As a flyer myself for over 23 years I get the problems that aircrew face in trying to be fit and healthy. Tiredness, poor diet whilst away and inflexible rosters are real sticking points that can get in the way. Using my flying experience and combining it with my personal training qualification, it is my mission to help you fly and live your life fit, healthy and strong. So, what exactly is online fitness coaching, how does it work, and most importantly, what’s in it for you?

What exactly is it?

Just like at the gym, you’re hiring a Fitness Coach to support and help you achieve your fitness goals. Except that you receive the support that you need from the comfort of your own home. You receive your training program, coaching advice with nutrition, weekly accountability online check-ins, and guidance so that you know what to do, how often to do it and how to progress.

With online training, you choose what time you train. You don’t have to sync your diary to a busy personal trainer’s schedule. You now have the flexibility to exercise and follow your program yourself at a time and place that you choose.

In terms of commitment, traditional personal training and online coaching are the same in that it’s down to you to put the effort in. You have to be committed and put the work in, no matter what, to achieve your goal.

The most important aspect, however, is that you find the right coach for you. Someone who isn’t just relatable, but a coach that totally gets you and what your busy flying lifestyle is about. Your roster doesn’t allow you to have every Friday off for example and it’s tough to find a trainer who gets this and can flexibly work around you.

Flying isn’t just a job, it’s a lifestyle. You love it but demanding and long flying duties can eat into your health. The fatigue you experience if left unchecked can overspill so easily into other areas of your life affecting your mood, eating habits and energy levels which can negatively impact on your relationship with others.

It all starts with a FREE 30-minute discovery call on Zoom. This is more than just discussing your fitness goals. It’s a platform to ask as many questions as you like. To talk about things such as potential barriers that have derailed your fitness in the past and what your monthly flying rosters looks like. It’s a platform to put all your fitness questions out there and map out exactly where you want to be 6 months from now.

Your flying rosters are irregular and one of the biggest challenges with exercise and training is staying consistent and not falling off track, so coming up with a strategy to counteract this and that crucially, that works for you.

A training plan designed specifically with you in mind.

A fitness plan designed for you that fits in with your busy lifestyle. A plan that maps out your training days and what to do during your sessions. To help you perform the exercises safely, the program comes on a spreadsheet with clear links to demonstration videos to help you and if in doubt your fitness coach is only a text message away.

Your nutrition journey

You certainly are what you eat, and nutrition plays a central role. It’s not about spending the day tracking calories and eating only steamed vegetables with chicken. It’s about creating sustainable, workable and positive nutritional habits that fit into your busy lifestyle without it feeling like a drag.

Using an app called ‘My Fitness Pal’ it’s not about denying you the foods that you love. It’s more about guiding you on the way to reaching your fitness goals whilst still enjoying the foods that you love.

Regular weekly check ins

Every week you will have a flexible check-in online via zoom where your weekly activity and nutrition are reviewed. Here is the time for honest feedback. Celebrate what went well, but also look at what didn’t, and your feedback is used for the next week. Regular weekly check-ins to keep you accountable and on track.
